Admission Requirements
Admittance to BHSU is based on the academic and personal qualifications of the applicant in accordance with SD Board of Regents regulations. Students must have completed the following core with at least a 2.6 GPA: 4 years of English 3 years of Social Science 3 years of Math (algebra or higher) 3 years of Lab Science 1 year Fine Arts In addition, students must also meet one of the following requirements: minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.6, minimum composite ACT score of 18 or SAT score of 950, or class rank in the top 60% of graduating class.
Steps to becoming a Yellow Jacket:
- Apply for admission. Submit your application at www.BHSU.edu/Apply
- Take ACT/SAT test. List BHSU (ACT code #3904/SAT code #6042) as the University to receive your test scores and they will be sent directly to us.
- Submit transcripts. Contact your high school and any post-secondary schools you have attended to request a transcript be mailed directly to the Enrollment Service Center (SDBOR Enrollment Service Center, 414 E. Clark Street, Slagle Hall, Suite 30, Vermillion, SD 57069)
- Submit medial forms. An immunization form will be mailed to you upon acceptance for admission to BHSU. This form must be completed and returned prior to registering for classes.
- Submit housing application. Once you’ve been accepted, choose your home away from home! Fill out the housing application at www.BHSU.edu/Housing and request the residence hall that best suits your needs.
- Register for classes at NSR. New Student Registration is a required program intended to provide you with the best opportunities in your first year at BHSU. Registration for NSR begins at the end of January 2018. Sign up at www.BHSU.edu/NSR

Financial Aid Requirements

Apply for federal financial aid as early as Oct. 1, 2018, to meet the Dec. 1 priority deadline.

Scholarship Requirements
As soon as you are admitted, all new and transfer students are encouraged to complete the General Scholarship Application www.BHSU.edu/Scholarships by the priority deadline of Jan. 15, 2019.
The up to $4,000 BUZZ Bonus Scholarship is automatically awarded over four years if you are in the top 1/3 of your class, have an ACT score of 21 or higher, or an SAT score of 1070 or higher. The BUZZ Bonus is based on your application for admission – no separate application is required. Information on the BUZZ Bonus and other BHSU scholarships is available at www.BHSU.edu/Scholarships
