Admission Requirements
FRESHMAN ADMISSIONS: *New as of Fall 2018*
(Freshman students are individuals who are still in high school at the time they apply or people who have not attempted 12 or more college level credits since graduating high school)
- Submit your application for admission with the $30 application fee.
- Once we recieve your unofficial high school transcript and official ACT or SAT test scores, we will be able to make an admissions decision and determine your incoming merit-based scholarship.
- To be eligible for admissions consideration, prospective freshmen must meet ONE of the following: 22 on the ACT or 1120 SAT, have a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA, or rank in the top 50% of their graduating class.
- Once admitted, please request your official final high school transcript showing graduation.
TRANSFER STUDENT ADMISSION: *New as of Fall 2018*
(Transfer students are individuals who have attempted 12 or more college credits after completing high school)
- Submit your application for admission with the $30 application fee.
- Once we recieve your unofficial college/university transcript(s), we will be able to make an admissions decision and determine your incoming merit based scholarship.
- To be eligible for admissions consideration, prospective transfers must meet the minimum 2.0 cumulative transfer GPA
- Once admitted, please request your official college/university transcript(s) be send upon the completion of your final semester.
Admissions Application Deadline
The final day to apply and to be considered for admission is the final business day before the official start of classes for each term.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/, is your first step in paying for college. We cannot begin building your financial aid package until you have been admitted and filed a completed FAFSA. The University of Montana's Financial Aid Code is: 00-2536

Incoming Merit Based Scholarships
You’ve worked hard for your GPA and test scores – at UM that pays off. We offer merit-based scholarships that will reward you for your effort and dedication. Incoming students are eligible and will automatically be evaluated for UM Entering Student Scholarships (including the Western Undergraduate Exchange).
To be considered for these scholarships and to maximize your financial aid opportunities, complete an application for admission as early as possible. Awarding begins November 15.

The University of Montana administers most scholarship funds through the UM Scholarship Portal. The portal is accessible to all incoming and continuing UM students and offers one centralized general application, regardless of a student’s major or program of study. We offer nearly 175 majors, minors, certificates, options, and tracks for students to choose from, as well as numerous graduate degrees. Programs are offered through 9 different academic colleges and schools: W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation, College of Business, Phyllis J. Washington College of Education and Human Sciences, School of Journalism, College of Humanities and Sciences, College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences, College of Visual and Performing Arts, Alexander Blewett III School of Law, and the Davidson Honors College.
